The most robust material handling systems utilize a guided fall system. This guided fall system is used to minimize or eliminate swing and sway as the unit accelerates or decelerates.

Workman Engineering & Manufacturing has built many styles of hoists to meet customer requirements.

Cantilevered side arm: A rear mounted hoist with single strap lift arm.
Overhead hoist – single lift strap: Overhead structure traveling hoist, guided center column with center single belt.
Overhead hoist – double lift strap: Overhead structure traveling hoist, guided center column with two offset lift straps.
Rail rider hoists: Low profile overhead structure hoist, guided center column with two offset lift straps.
Positioning hoists with lasers: High accuracy laser positioning system used to position hoists within 5mm.
Positioning hoist with rotary encoders: Integrated motor encoders or rotary encoders mounted on the hoist to interface with the structure.
Materials of construction: Hoists can be made from painted mild steel, 304SS or 316SS, and painted stainless steel
Articulated hoist pick-ups: Automated adjustable center hoist pick-ups can account for varying size products.
Capacities: Hoist capacities can range from 100pounds to 10,000 pounds or more depending on the application.

Optional barrel rotation capabilities, motors utilizing VFD controls. Hoists can be fully automated, semi-automated with push button station control or manual.
